John's obituary

John Carl Kovac Jr. passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024 in Akron, Ohio. John was born on June 24, 1960 to John Kovac Sr. and Kathrine Massey in Blue Island, Illinois. He was one of nine children in his family.

John served in the United States Navy 1978-1979 when he was honorably discharged. He was proud to have served his country. He was an avid collector of knives and comic books. He loved to make jewelry.

John loved his family above all else. He believed in living an honorable life and giving to those he loved. He wasn’t larger than life but always made life larger.

He is survived by his wife Deborah, of 43 years. He is also survive by his children Amber (Vincent) Mizelle, John (Mallorie) Kovac III, Mason Kovac, and Katherine (Kyle Fensom) Kovac, along with grandchildren Zoey Mizelle, Mason Anderson, Cody Kovac, and Violet, Damond, and Teddy Hilton. John will also be fondly remembered by his sisters Mary Brown, Brenda DePriest, and Nichole Massey-Stilwill.

John was preceded in death by his father John Kovac Sr., stepfather Edsel Massey, son Adrill Nelson, grandson Skyler Mizelle, sisters Susan Kovac, Sandy Flores, Deborah Gwynn; and brothers Leslie Massey and Leonard Massey.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial will be held at a later date.
