John Carl Kovac Jr passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024 in Akron, Ohio. John was born on June 20,1960 to John Carl Kovac Sr and Katherine Belle Kersey in Blue Island, Illinois. He was one of nine children in his family. John Served in the United States Navy from 1978-1979 when he was honorably discharged. He was proud to have served his country, was an avid collector of knives and comic books. And loved to make jewelry, and occasionally furniture. He loved his family above all else. Believing in living an honorable life and giving to those he loved. He wasn't larger than life but always made life larger. He is survived by his children Amber Kovac (Vincent Mizelle), John Kovac III ( Malorie Anderson), Mason Kovac, and Katherine Kovac (Kyle Fenson), along with grandchildren Zoey Mizelle, Mason Anderson, Cody Kovac and Violet, Damond, and Teddy Hilton. John will also be fondly remembered by his sisters Mary Brown, Brenda Depriest, Nicole Massey-Stilwill, and his mother Katherine Belle File. John was preceded in death by his grandson Skyler Mizelle, son Adrill Nelson, stepfather Edsel Massey, sisters Susan Kovac, Sandy Flores, Deborah Gwynn, brothers Leslie Massay and Leonard Massey, and his father John Carl Kovac Sr. Cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held at a later date.
