John's obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of John M. Klemko, Upper Chichester (Schuylkill Haven), announces his unforeseen passing early Monday, November 2nd, 2020 at Crozer-Keystone Medical Center, from complications associated with a recent diagnosis of Stage 4, metastatic cancer.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Evonne Klemko (Flickinger), with whom he’d spent the last 17 years, and additionally by his mother and father, John J. and Alice Klemko. John was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lauretta Stanchik.
Introduced to trains by his childhood friends, John worked for SMS Rail Lines for 20 years, where he will be sorely missed.
He enjoyed browsing flea markets and finding vintage items to restore. He amassed many pendulum clocks and Victrola record players and records, so many records. He loved the mechanics of how things could run without batteries or electricity. When not enjoying a Flyer’s game in person or on TV, he could be found at the gun shows looking for something new for his collection or at the range practicing his marksmanship. Summers spent vacationing and people watching from the Atlantic Hotel balcony in Ocean City, MD as well as sunsets with his wife in Cape May, NJ were among his favorite places to be.
Never one to put himself first, helping friends whenever needed speaks volumes about his generosity. Christmas and Halloween were his favorite holidays; he loved decorating with his wife for Christmas, especially with his assortment of ceramic trees.
Although, he was a man of few words - once he made a connection with you he was more than willing to debate politics, talk about firearms, trains, trucks, or just about anything.
