Jack is survived by his wife Ann Williams (Smith) of Windsor Heights; his sons Chris (Andrea) Williams of Des Moines and Patrick (Catherine) Williams of Des Moines. Jack was very proud of all of his grandchildren George Daniel & Evan Lois (Chris & Andrea) along with Fitzpatrick John & Coralynn Ann (Patrick & Catherine). He is preceded in death by his mother Valeria Williams Gilbert, his father Robert Williams, and his sister Midge Herbst all of Algona, Iowa.
Jack was born in 1945 in Algona, Iowa to Bob and Val Williams. He was an All-State football player for Algona High School where he graduated in 1963. He graduated from Drake University in 1967 and then was drafted to serve in the in the Army. He married Ann Smith in 1970. After moving to back Algona, Jack began working with his father Bob at Leuthold Williams “Hub” Clothiers. Jack went on to spend several years at Home Federal Savings and Loan and eventually retired from Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Company in 2009.
Jack enjoyed playing golf at the Algona Country Club for over 60 years and won a few skins along the way. He also served as the Club President there for several years. He also donated his time as a member of the Algona Public Library Board of Directors. More than anything, Jack enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them cribbage, and educating them on the best parts of Chex mix.
The family will not be having a public memorial. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Jack's name to the Algona Public Library or the Algona Community School Foundation. Condolences can made be via this website. The family would like to thank Iowa Methodist Medical Center CCU for the care that they provided for Jack and the exceptional communication with us.
