John's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mr. John Higgins, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. John, a man revered for his heartwarming personality, was born on March 21, 1960, and walked into the sunset on January 18, 2024.

John, known by many for his fun-loving, kind-hearted, and goofy demeanor, has left a void that cannot be filled. His positive attitude and high spirits were contagious, bringing joy and laughter into every room he entered.

He was a proud alumnus of Benicia High School, where he graduated in 1978. His school years were marked with fond memories and friendships that lasted a lifetime.

John is survived by his loving spouse, Barbara Higgins, his cherished children John Murphy Higgins and Chelsea Murphy Hylton, his valued step-son Brandon Ingle, his adored siblings Linda Higgins Brown and Kristi Higgins, and his nieces Angela Carter and Stephanie Moskal. He was a doting grandfather to Mallory Higgins, Olivia Infante-Higgins, Troy Hylton, Quinn Hylton, and Wednesday Ingle.

He joins his predeceased parents, Tom and Jeanine Higgins, and his dearly remembered sister, Kathleen Higgins. The bond he shared with them was profound and their memories will remain embedded in John's legacy.

John worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in the early 1980’s, but spent most of his career as a truck driver. He loved being on the road behind the wheel. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

John's journey of life was marked by the love he shared with his family and the joy he spread among his friends. His life was a testament to his generous spirit and loving heart. He has left behind a trail of beautiful memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

In these times of sorrow, we find comfort in the memories we shared with John. His life and his love will forever be etched in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring. More information to follow.
