John graduated from Temple University (Philadelphia) with a BA in Journalism and Advertising in 1980. John first worked as a reporter for the Gloucester County Times newspaper, and later for Brockway Standard Holdings Corporation where he rose to the position of Manager of Government Contracts. A position he held until his death.

John was a strong, loving and supportive husband and father where his knowledge and guidance served as the foundation for raising his family. John was blessed with the "gift of gab"; he could start and hold a conversation with virtually anyone! When he wasn't working, John enjoyed being by the water, listening to classic rock music, tasting wine and opining about politics and professional sports.

Relatives are invited to attend a graveside ceremony at the Heck family plot. Meet at the Family Life Center inside Resurrection Cemetery by 10:45AM, Thursday, April 7, 2022 for a motorcade procession to the plot. Resurrection Cemetery is located at 5201 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Washington’s Crossing Historic Park.
