Jack's obituary
John "Jack" Greenfield, born February 22, 1940, passed away on May 6, 2023 in the presence of his loving wife, Debbie. Known fondly by family and friends as Jack, he will be remembered for his warmth, positive mindset, great smile, and infectious laughter. Jack's indomitable spirit brightened the lives of everyone around him.
Born in Long Beach, CA to William and Dorothy Greenfield, Jack grew up, lived and worked in southern California until moving to the Redding area with Debbie in 1988.
As a servant of Jesus, Jack sought always to be an active member of his community. Over the years, he dedicated himself to a variety of activities to support and serve others. Most notably, Jack devoted over 35 years of his life as a professional educator and administrator. Whether he was coaching, teaching or leading a school, he was fully committed to the success of his students and to supporting the other educators with whom he worked.
Jack was a true patriot. Perhaps one of his greatest honors was proudly serving our Nation as a member of the United States Coast Guard Reserve, retiring with the rank of Captain after 36 years of service.
A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, Jack leaves behind his beloved wife, Debbie, of 42 years. He is also survived by his son John, and daughters Cathy, Kelley, Mia and Amie. He also leaves behind a grandson, Alessandro and four granddaughters Alix, Amanda, Emma, and Alena.
Jack's absence will be keenly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we mourn Jack's passing, his enduring influence on our lives brings comfort and inspiration.
May his memory be a blessing and his legacy continue to inspire those he touched. Jack, your journey here may have ended, but your spirit will forever be in our hearts.
