John Gilliland, 84, of Sand Springs, OK, passed away on October 28, 2022 after a well-fought battle with cancer.  John was born on August 28, 1938, to Carl and Bernice Gilliland in Dewey, Oklahoma.  He joined the Navy in 1957 and was stationed in San Diego, California and Waukegan, Illinois.  After leaving the military, he went on to study Accounting at Tulsa University.   John provided disaster recovery services for American Airlines and was the owner of several carwashes in the Tulsa area.  In 1958, he married Donna Sue Weaver, going on to have four children, Debbie Gilliland of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Kelly Gilliland of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Joni Gilliland Javellas of Dewey, Oklahoma and John Clayton Gilliland of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.   In 1979, he married Rosemary Wilyard and had one child, Matthew Phillip Gilliland.  John was a bicycling enthusiast, and always passionate about health, exercise and nutrition.  He is survived by his children and his cherished brother, Dan Gilliland.  There will be a grave-side memorial at the Dewey Cemetery at 10:00 am on November 12.
