John "Fred"'s obituary

John “Fred” Higgins, of Macungie, PA passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024 at 81 years old.

Born on July 3, 1942 in Shenandoah, PA to John and Mary Higgins (Jones).

He proudly served in the US Army from 1960-1963 and received an Honorable Discharge.

After serving in the US Army, Fred started his career as a mechanic at Reedman’s Automotive in Langhorne, PA. He finished his career as a Ground Support Manager servicing the entire east coast for Continental Airlines retiring in 2008.

Fred served as Vice President at Ranger Lake Rod & Gun Club and as a volunteer firefighter and social member at the Woodlawn Fire Company in South Whitehall Twp. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling with his wife and watching his grandchildren’s sports.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Virginia M. Higgins (Gormas); his children Ken Higgins and his partner Sandy, Scott Higgins and his wife Beth Ann; and his grandchildren Brandon, Dylan, Connor and Kelsey. Fred was predeceased by his sisters Betty Jane Courtney and Alice M. Semmler.

At his wishes, his family will be holding a private celebration of life.
