John "Frank" Stafford, 90, passed away after a long and well lived life. John enjoyed his family, friends, The Church, and traveling around the world. He was always the brightest spirit with a smile that would light up the room. He love taking pictures with his loved ones to remember all the memories and good times. He would also make sure you knew he was a handsome man. He loved the Lord with all his heart and soul and was a praying man over his family.
John “Frank” Franklin Stafford transitioned peacefully at home in Norfolk, Virginia on Saturday, October 7, 2023 one day short of his 90th birthday. John was the third child and first boy born to the late Fred and Jesse Stafford on October 8, 1933 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. He relocated to New York City as a result of joining the Army, and remained there over 60 years living a full life. He became a realtor which led to general contracting which he loved as a way to help others in times of need. He retired from construction and general contractor at 80 years old. He was a faithful servant of the Lord. First at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY and then more than forty years as a deacon at Amity Baptist Church in Jamaica, NY.
John was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, five brothers, one niece and four nephews. He leaves to mourn his daughters Venese Stafford-Dejernett, Jannifer Rice (Victor), Crystal Fowler (Jeffrey) and a son Khari J Shamba (nee Kalvin A Stafford), ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, two sisters Flora Davis of Jonesboro, GA and Annie Elizabeth Harmon, brother Bobby Stafford of Concord, NC, and four stepsiblings as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
