John's obituary

John Fairchild, 65, of Mondamin, Iowa, peacefully passed away on November 18, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with liver cancer.  John was born on November 19, 1958, to Robert and Evelyn (Block) Fairchild in the bustling city of Lima, Ohio.  

After John graduated from high school in 1977, he joined the United States Air Force.  While in the USAF, John was a weapon control systems mechanic, and was awarded the Air Force Longevity Service Award.  After his time in the Air Force, John worked in the HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical industries. He first worked with his dad at Bob's Electric & Refrigeration for a few years before branching out on his own.  John was passionate about his work and loved what he did for a living.  

John was married to Mary Schwertley in Missouri Valley, Iowa.  John and Mary went on to have two children, Robert and William.  John also had another son, Adam Jording.  John retired last year after over forty years in the HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical industries .  While retired, John had time to pursue his love of leisure activities and helping anyone in need. 

 John was predeceased by his grandparents - Harry & Josephine (Wilson) Fairchild and Herman & Carrie (Sehestedt) Block - and by his father, Robert (Bob) Fairchild.  He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Fairchild of Little Sioux; children, Adam Jording and Charla of North Platte, Nebraska and Robert and William Fairchild of Missouri Valley, Iowa; grandchildren, Gavin, Gracelynn, Noah, and Emma Jording; and two sisters, Julia Marth of Papillion, Nebraska and Laura Hartman and her husband Paul of Little Sioux. Services will be held at the Omaha National Cemetery later.
