John's obituary
John F. Ellis, Jr. went home to be with Jesus on October 31, 2024, at the age of 72.
John was born to John and Cynthia Ellis on January 31, 1952 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Throughout his life, he resided in Massachusetts, New York, and Georgia. John graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in Sociology and then went on to receive his MBA at Western New England College.
He met his wife, Stef in 1971 at a Thanksgiving dinner in Holyoke, MA. They married on July 6, 1974 and went on to have three children, Heather, Tomania, and Benjamin. They raised their family in Massachusetts and retired in Georgia. John put his faith and trust in the Lord in 1983 and continued to rely on Christ for the remainder of his life. He had a confident hope in his Savior and never wavered in his faith.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather, John loved to watch sporting events (especially hockey), read books, watch movies and go on cruises with his wife and family. Watching his grandchildren grow up and being able to spend time with them brought him so much joy. He especially loved it when his grandkids would come and sit with him and tell them all about their day. He was intelligent, supportive, reliable, and always ready with a pertinent meme to share or a witty dad joke.
John is survived by his daughter Heather Warren and son-in-law Timothy of Canterbury, CT; daughter Tomania Kelly and son-in-law Paul of Cumming, GA and son Benjamin Ellis of Duluth, GA. In addition, John leaves grandchildren Tyler Warren, Gabrielle Kelly, Chelsea Kelly, Meredith Kelly, Julia Kelly, Kristen Kelly and John (JP) Kelly. Also surviving him are his sister Susan (Christopher) Almy of Charleston, ME and his brother Timothy (Margaret) Ellis of Whitesboro, NY along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Stef Ellis.
There will be a private family service held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to one of the following options:

Psalm 23
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”
