The heart of every mother breaks for you and your family. Sending love.

A few years back when I was teaching at Valley View, we had a field trip to an outdoor camp. John was coming with and he missed the bus, so he drove out and met us there. In the morning we were playing gaga ball with the kids and as I was climbing out of the pit, my shorts got caught on the board and majorly ripped.  As I stood there wondering how I was going to get through five more hours with my butt hanging out the back of my pants in front of a hundred 6th graders, I suddenly feel John pushing his car key into my hand. "I passed a Target on my way here."

He went out of his way to help me that day. Not many people would hand over their car to someone they don't know that well just to save them some embarassment. I'll be forever greatful to have known him.

Words cannot express how much you meant to me John. Since we met in middle school, you were like a brother. We did everything together growing up whether it was school, girls, sports, video games, sleep overs, clubs when we were barely 18yrs old, etc. You kept me going with basketball, even when I was over it. You always got me back in the gym like nobody else ever could. Your mom and dad were like my aunt and uncle and always be until the end of time. You guided  me to become a young man as kids. Helped me to overcome my fears, not care what people think and to make me laugh the whole way through.  You are a part of me forever and always a part of the Zins family. I love you brother.

My love and prayers to Jeanne and Herman.  John, your smile lives on!
