Knew Mike from High School. He joined the MARINES, 1966 while I was in VIETNAM. When I returned in 1967 he was in our wedding. He wore his uniform, sharp. They "tried" to pin a groomsman flower on his lapel. I thought I was going to stop a fight. Got through to the lady.  My cousin, also a VETERAN, said Mike glided down the isle. Told Mike later. He beamed with PRIDE. Also took him with me to a High School to talk to students about VIETNAM, not all the blood and guts like the students wanted. We kept it mild. We were well received.

I have fond memories of Mike. Funny, carefree and lighthearted. Great sense of humor. That’s what I remember as a 13 yo when I first met his step daughter Michelle, and he stayed that way all through the years. Always willing to come pick me up so I could come live at the house with Michelle every weekend of 7th and 8th grade. For that I will be forever thankful. In his own way, he helped foster the most meaningful, beautiful, cherished relationship I have. I have so much love for the entire family. Although I’m unable to attend, my heart is with you all at this difficult time. Sending love and strength.

Met when we were 11 years old. Went through HS and to college together.  I went Army. He went Marines. Went back to college together. Many, many experiences together. Kept pretty much in touch until, maybe 10 years ago. Always wanted the best for Mike.

Mike and I were in the band together at Central High School. I am proud of his service during the height of the Vietnam War and grieved for him and his mental health issues afterwards. Thank you for your service, Mike. I will remember you always.

My condolences to Mike's family. I first met Mike when I was in a Masonic Meeting at Rossville Lodge #397 F&AM, and we would often sit and talk and just have a good ole time.
