Jack's obituary

Jack Dockx, 84, of Venice FL, formerly of Hooksett NH, passed away on Friday April 28, 2023, from complications of Parkinsons Disease.

Jack was born on November 4, 1938, to William and Lillian Dockx in Manchester, NH. After graduating from Manchester West High where he was president of his class and a standout athlete in football and basketball, Jack went on to study Engineering at New Hampshire Technical Institute. After graduation, Jack began a lengthy career in the design engineering field for companies like Foster Grant, Nashua Corporation and Disk Technology.  He was also a member of the NH Air National Guard.

In 1958, Jack met Sylvia Richardson, and they wed in 1961, going on to have 2 children, Pam and Jeff.  Jack enjoyed all sports and excelled at most. He enjoyed "coaching up" his kids and teaching them the fundamentals of basketball on their back yard court.  He was an avid sailor, starting with a Sunfish and "moving up" to his beloved 25-foot Irwin the "Endura" docked in Gilford Marina on Lake Winnipesaukee. He had a need for speed and spent hours windsurfing at the lake and longboard sailing on the beaches of Maine in the wintertime.  He also enjoyed running, golf and spent many years hiking and camping in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

After retiring in 1994, Jack and Sylvia moved to Englewood Fl and enjoyed many years with friends in the community of Tangerine Woods. Much of their time was spent playing competitive tennis, bicycling, exploring the beaches of the area, fishing, and boating the intercoastal waterways in their Boston Whaler.  They also enjoyed traveling and exploring the United States, particularly the National Parks of California, Colorado and the Southwest.

Jack is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Sylvia Richardson Dockx (Oh, what a great team they made!), son Jeff and his wife Bridget of Marco Island, Fl, daughter Pam and her husband Andy Bakinowski of Norfolk, MA, grandson Ryan Bakinowski and his wife Allyson of Rehoboth MA, granddaughter Emily Bakinowski of Norfolk, MA and grand pups Wilson and Lainey. He is also survived by his brothers Richard "Dick" Dockx and his wife Jan, and Peter Dockx and his wife Marilyn, sisters Jeannie Lyon and her husband Bill, and Susan Spagna and her husband Frank, sister-in-law Reese Richardson and his late brother-in-law Stanley "Kirk" Richardson, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dan and Marcia Kiestlinger for their continued help and support.

Despite the physical challenges Jack endured over the past few years, we choose to remember the fun times, love and laughter we have all shared during his incredibly rich lifetime.
