John's obituary
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on December 14, 2019 at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostle, located at 424 Emery Drive, Hoover, Alabama 35244.
John was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 14, 1935. He graduated from Ensley High School and continued to receive a Bachelors Degree from Auburn University and a Masters Degree from the University of Georgia.
John was a Professor of Art at Jacksonville State and retired from the University of Alabama at Birmingham as a Professor Emeritus. He was a great artist, teacher, mentor, husband and father. He was an avid birdwatcher, with a passionate love for nature and animals. He had a love for riding motorcycles and collecting UFO (and other) memorabilia.
John is survived by his daughter Jan Dillon, Brother Roy Dillon (Jill), a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Kay Dillon and daughter Sally Dillon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the University of Alabama at Birmingham John Dillon Endowed Scholarship.
