I was one of the lucky art students that had John as a teacher. He was a gift to us all, sharing his talent and warm personality with us all. I have nothing but the best memories of John. I have an original print of his if anyone in the family would like to have it?

I read just last night about John’s passing and am so very sorry to have learned this so late. I sent him a personal message on the 10th of February when I ran across the fan with his much loved photo from UAB’s magazine years ago. I had last spoken with him to let him know that my husband who loved John had passed away in July of 2018. John was very much lived —ever-loved—by his students. Buddy thought the world of John and always enjoyed the opportunity to see him. We had drive to see a show in Foley and another at Montevallo a few years back. Despite the time that lapsed in between the times we saw it spoke to him, he was always loved and remembered fondly. You all have my greatest sympathy.
