March 13, 1927 - August 11, 2022 We lost our dad on August 11, 2022. He was a giant of a man who was not only brilliant but also one of the most compassionate and giving people alive. He touched so many lives and will be missed dearly. He was born in NYC but spent a good part of his early years in Canada. He went to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he met his wife Joan Elizabeth Cullens (Boudreau). He moved to Washington, DC with his new wife to begin the next phase of his life, working for the Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Lab, where he would work for the next 38 years. It was also in those early years of work that he completed his Masters in Engineering at the University of Maryland. He was a passionate sailor and spent many weekends on his boats, Joan of Ark I and Joan of Ark II. He also toured a good part of the United States and Canada with his RV. His wife, Joan, preceded him in death as well as his son, Paul Cullens. He is survived by his companion, Gretchen Nyland, his children Michael Cullens (Noriko), Patricia Lang, David Cullens (Tia), Catherine Hunter (Gary), Peter Cullens (Vivi) as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
