I just saw John Luce’s obituary and wanted to leave a few words. I am so sorry to hear that he’s no longer with us. He was a great guy. We both attended the same church and youth group, so we knew each other a little. Mainly, I remember him as a nice person who was really smart in math. (Really smart in math!) I, on the other hand, was a real Algebra dummy. I did ok in other subjects, but math was my downfall. I was having so much trouble that my folks asked John to tutor me; and, being John, he did it but wouldn’t accept any money. He was so patient and kind that I finally got it and managed to keep my head above water long enough to pass. Thank you, John!

I just found out about John's passing from an old baseball teammate. What sad news to hear. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

I knew John from playing "old man" baseball - he was my coach when I picked up a bat after 20+ years of not picking up a bat. He was welcoming, gracious, patient, and funny. I really enjoyed getting to know him as a coach, and then as a friend. He was the salt of the earth, and he will be missed.

So sad to hear of John's passing.  I was so glad I got to see him at our JLHS 50th Reunion.  We caught up with some old stories of a time gone by.  Rest in Peace John.

Very sorry to hear about John; he was a great guy, I enjoyed the many times playing softball and golf with him, always fun, great sense humor and wit.
Coach. It was an honor to play with you when I was in North Carolina. You were a good coach but a good friend. You are in heaven now . No more pain or suffering. RIP Black Sox’s Number 13.
