It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Cavaliere, who passed away on August 30, 2024. Born on March 10, 1944, John lived a fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and laughter. He had a warm, bubbly personality who served as the life of any party. His heart was full of kindness, compassion, and a sense of humor that could light up any room.
John was a beloved husband to Alice for over 60 years, and a cherished father to John, Joyce, and Joe. His unwavering love and dedication extended to his daughter-in-laws, Stacey and Barbara, as well as his son-in-law Ed. He was adored by his 7 grandchildren, John, Stephanie, Anthony, Nicole, Christopher, Julia, and Joe, as well as his 4 great-grandchildren, Isabel, Caroline, Isaac, and Kate. His family was his pride and joy.
Known for his love of games, John enjoyed challenging family and friends to a match of Yahtzee, a round of various games of Poker, or a hilarious game of Balderdash, where he would come up with the funniest answers. His artistic side was reflected in his favorite pastime, painting soldiers, a meticulous task that he undertook with great patience and skill. His office once was filled with shelves of painted soldiers of various eras.
A lover of sweets, John had a penchant for Klondike Bars and Tootsie Rolls, treats that brought a twinkle to his eye. During get-togethers or paired with a nice meal, he enjoyed a glass of Dewar's Scotch, his drink of choice that was a symbol of his appreciation for the finer things in life.
John was a compassionate soul who deeply cared for important causes, notably St. Jude's, where he made regular contributions. John battled progressive Parkinson's Disease in his later years. Having lived with the debilitating effects of this horrible disease, in lieu of flowers, the family is raising funds for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. John will always be remembered for his stupendous kindness, his joyous laughter and sense of humor that could turn anyone's bad day around, and his almost comical fear of spiders and bugs. His absence leaves a gaping void, but his spirit lives on in the laughter he left behind, in the hearts he touched, and the lives he enriched. John Cavaliere, a remarkable man whose memory will be cherished forever by those who knew and loved him.
