Think of John often…Miss him

I can't say I ever recall meeting John, but because I knew his mother and father I attended his memorial Mass, and reception. That sad day, I heard countless stories of this 58-year old man who by all accounts was "
an angel walking among us." I still have that tiny booklet called "
A Selection of Stories from the Legend of John Carlin next to my desk and occasionally read through it. Just read the introduction in this tiny booklet which captures the essence of John. The person of a man, called John may go, but the best part of John stays. PH

Queen Elizabeth was right when she said "grief is the price we pay for love."
We never met John Carlin, but occasionally read selection of stories of this legendary young man from Mission Viejo who obviously had an impact on those he encounter.
My God Continue to Bless John.

Today two years ago the Lord took John home. His 58 years on this earth were meaningful to so many. God Bless everyone.

I am not sure a day goes by that I do not think of John. I have never met a more unselfish person. John blessed so many of us with his time on Earth.

Happy birthday to dear, sweet John. He is deeply missed by the Hahn family. I was reading a book yesterday that talked about someone who always made other people feel seen and special and I thought of John.

I have something to share. Sadly John never received this message as it was not included in the Kimmel group birthday message so I would like to share it in celebration of his 60th! When Jason said those things about John and I at the memorial, I know that was just silly shit, John and I had a very sweet friendship that we valued. I also want to say that he was also very kind in person (not just asking about them) to my kids. My kids knew John because he was always a big teddy bear with them when they would visit the show. Celia and I continue to think what would John think when sending Jimmy sports suggestions for the show. Dustin is in John's office now but to me it will always be John's office. Wishing John a Very very Happy Birthday in Heaven. Much love to the family too xo

Been thinking about John a lot lately. He was such a pure soul. Also remembering when we went to Shambala Preserve on a {balmy} 104 degree day in early June to see the rescued big cats. Tippi Hendren was there (she lives on the preserve) and did a lovely talk at the end of the tour. John loved it. :)

John was one of the most genuine people that I have ever met. He always went out his way to make sure people were taken care of. I met John in 1999 while living in Redondo Beach and always stayed in touch when I moved to Northern Ca. He will always have a huge place in my heart. The world lost a great man but heaven gained one of the brightest angels of all.

I’ve been fortunate and honored to call John a friend these past 20 something years and deeply saddened by his passing. My condolences go out to his amazing and supportive family, friends and his many acquaintances — who didn’t know John Carlin? Always quick with a smile, a funny quip or compliment, he was the light in the room. His gifts were many and bringing people together was one of them. Watching him battle ALS was heartbreaking. I will never forget his perseverance and grace that allowed us to spend time with him these past couple of years when he could no longer venture out. I will always love you JC.

I am sadden by the loss of a fellow classmate. We always had a great time in classes. ALS is such a horrible disease and cruel. My Mother passed with ALS also. I am glad John is at peace now.

I just learned of this and my heart broke. I have known John as long as he has been working for Kimmel and even before that. We have worked together for years but I will remember him best for being my friend. I had a health issue back in July and without pause, he checked up on me. He was so kind and considerate, funny and full of life. It's never fair to lose the good ones, the ones that you want to stay on this earth forever, and the ones like John that make this place better just by their presence. John gave us all a perspective of life and how to live it to the fullest even when it delivers you lemons. I will forever be grateful for his friendship and will pray for him and his family. May you rest in peace John. We love you forever.

It was our privilege to have known John Carlin for many years as the oldest son of our dear friends Jim and Lynne. John was unique. He was gifted in that he had a way of making everyone he met feel very important. He really cared. There was nothing phony about John. It seemed so unfair that this kind, gentle and generous soul was dealt the card of ALS. John fought the good fight right up until the end and continued to do whatever he could to bring pleasure to his many friends and family. God was pleased with him and determined it was time to welcome him home with the words, “Well done good and faithful servant.”
