Thanks for all the good times, John. I can't believe it's been 1 year already.

John was my friend. I always had fun hanging out with him in Tallahassee. Great guy to drink with and have a whataburger with

One of my favorite memories of John was going to the Alameda County Fair one Sunday with A’s bros Johnny,  Mark Bashuk and Marco Ruidiaz. We were hanging out at John and Marks apartment beforehand and, the vibes being immaculate, decided to play dress up in silly outfits that fit a county fair perfectly.

We had a blast tooling around the fair - watching the demolition derby, going on a couple rides, drinking a beer, speaking in slang, and just enjoying ourselves in an all-around carefree, wholesome way. (Pic forthcoming)

Having a good time around John was so effortless.

Miss you buddy.

Love, D. Roach

Mercedes, sending my deepest condolences to you, and you & John’s families. Sending you strength and love during this incredible difficult time. You are in my thoughts xoxo Sarah
Sending hugs from the west coast. John and I worked as ticket services reps together at the a’s from 2015- ~2017. I am from dublin, ca and we bonded over + occasionally carpooled back to dublin from the stadium after work. We stayed in contact as friends after we both left the A’s. I can remember some fun FaceTimes hearing about his adventures in China as well as good times when he was back living in SF in 2019.

Thank you for sharing the obit. John had this magical spell to him that brought out such joy in others. I feel grateful that I got to know him + be his friend.

Sending love and thoughts to John’s family and partner during this time and hoping time heals but John’s impact on all of us lives on forever.

All the hugs,
Amy
JA was a legend!  I met him in the blistering summer of ‘07 at Indian Village which is located between foothills of Dock Campbell and The Palace.  He welcomed me with arms wide open and we immediately bonded over our mutual love ; “The fast and furious, Tokyo Drift!”  He would often tell me, “Fox, your representing me now, what’d you think?  I’m gonna let you roll in a Hyundai?” JA’s humor immediately brightened the room and his heart was very kind!  He copyrighted the term “Care About it” which spread like wildfire and is now common vernacular in 5/7 continents.  He was such a great human and his legacy will live long past his days on earth.  He was a great one and will be missed dearly!

John was always down to go to Sushi 85 for AYCE Sushi :)
I am most appreciative of the Austin's for being one of the coolest families on Earth; and fathering John. Much love.
