John's obituary

John “Johnny” Wayne Byrd Jr., 59, unexpectedly passed away after suffering a heart attack on the morning of November 21, 2023 in Austin, TX.

John was born in 1963 to John Wayne Byrd Sr. and Jean Boyer in Washington, PA. John grew up in Langeloth, PA and graduated from Burgettstown high school in 1981. He went on to obtain a computer programming certificate at the Computer Systems Institute in Pittsburgh, PA.

John moved to Austin, TX in 1985 and began working at IBM. In 1993, John got married to Lisa Reeves and moved back to Pennsylvania. In 1996, John and his family moved back to Austin where he worked at several companies over the years, landing at Charles Schwab for the last 7 years of his life. John and Lisa were married for 17 years and raised 3 children together.

John loved the Pittsburgh Steelers football team, World of Outlaws sprint car racing, NASCAR, trout and deep sea fishing, his two cats Kiki and Lily, Studio Ghibli films, and most of all, he loved spending quality time with his children. He was a reliable, loving, and devoted father and a loyal friend to many. Everyone who met him knew how smart, funny, witty, and giving he was.

John is survived by his mother Jean Boyer, his three children Lauren Byrd, Marissa Greenberg, and Justin Byrd, and his granddaughter Zella. He will be deeply and forever missed.
