John's obituary

John Wayne Brake , 73 , of Brunswick, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.
John was born on July 31, 1946, to Hosea and Monnie Brake. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1967. He was Huntsman for several Hunt Clubs: New Market Hounds, New Market, MD; Windy Hollow Hunt, New York; Goshen Hunt, Goshen Maryland; Bull Run Hunt, Haymarket, VA. He and his wife, Patricia Brake, founded The School of Foxhunting to teach the art and etiquette of Fox Hunting. Many students from their program went on to join various hunt clubs. In 2001, John became manager of the Frederick 4-H Camp and Activities Center, until he retired in May 2011, at which time he and Pat moved to Brunswick, MD.

John was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Samuel J Brake, and his sister, Helen B Lantz. He is survived by his wife, Patricia W Brake, his daughter, Robin L (William) Lease, step children: Michael D (Elizabeth) Houser, Joseph B (Andrea) Houser, Wendy M (Charlie) Stouffer, his sisters: Mary C Stapp and Sandra L Clements. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

John's family wishes to thank the staff at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center for their wonderful compassion and care.
