John Christopher Bernhard (Chris) of Glastonbury, CT, died in November 2024. He was 75 years old.

Chris graduated from Colgate University with a A.B. English. His career was as an underwriter of Surety Bonds with Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, Industrial Indemnity Insurance Company, and The Hartford Insurance Company.

Chris loved his childhood summers on Lake Tully in Tully, NY; professional baseball (especially the Red Sox!); and his years living in Northern Virginia and then San Francisco, and working as a guide at the Mark Twain House & Museum.

Chris would like to be remembered for his scholarly bent, his fast humor, and his passion for and scholarly knowledge of Mark Twain.

Chris is survived by brothers Rob and Dave; sisters-in-law Diane and Karen; nieces & nephews Kristin, Heather, Scott, Todd, Jessica & Jordana.
