You invited me into IAM and I am forever grateful, and for your gentle presence in my life and the lives of those dear to me.

John Mabud we miss your gentle presence on this earth. I remember how we met weekly for meditations at Casa de Luz for over three years, afterwards breakfast and tea and sweet sharings. You almost always were there.

I send my prayers to your family and friends this anniversary of your leaving.

We spent a Mother's Day afternoon at the Wildflower Center with John, Amy, Krista and myself.  We all took food and had a wonderful hodgepodge of flavors to feast on.   We all ate, talked, laughed and enjoyed together.  Then we all walked over to the large swing.  What a wonderful day!    It was such a privilege to be a part of this wonderful family.

I commented about this at the tribute.

John was an interesting person. I knew John from when he started working at TxDOT. I also worked at TxDOT as a Chemical Engineer.  I know the rigorous requirements of getting this degree from UT. He graduated in 1983, but actually he started working at TxDOT Materials and Tests Division a year earlier as the "Night Man". This required going around at the end of the workday and visiting each lab section to see if they needed anything done at night to facilitate their lab operations. Like, "I need this oven turned on at 2am, and these samples taken out of here at 4am."  How he studied all day ( I know because I did that part), and worked all night, I will never know. I guess it is called sleep deprivation.

I traveled some with John at TxDOT and with meeting others in TxDOT districts, sometimes you go to lunch with folks. Many times you end up at a BBQ joint. I remember asking John about this, knowing he was vegetarian. He would always say, " This is fine, I will order the veggies."

I can say that John was the most mellow person I have ever known. I never heard him even raise his voice.

He will be missed. I have viewed the video several times already. It is a testament to John's nature.

John's journey of life of love with family and friendships

Sorry for your loss, John touched many lives at TXDOT in profoundly positive ways, including my own. I worked with him for 22 years. His adherence to vegetarianism and positive outlook encouraged me to go vegan, which I've maintained for the past 4 years. His perspective and good nature were infectious and the world is a much better place because of him.

Sharing heart felt condolences for your loss. I am honored to have known John. He was a friend, mentor, and role model to many. He made the earth a better place through his kindness and peaceful nature. Missing you John. Fly with the Angels !!
In loving sympathy for the Bassett family.  John is forever in our hearts. He was a true friend, always kind, caring, gentle, humble.  John lived his life in peaceful harmony with all beings.  The depth of his love and devotion is an eternal gift.

A friend who touched so many hearts just by being himself.  You will be missed John. RIP.
