John's obituary
John David Barton, age 57, passed away suddenly on April 20, 2022 in Bradenton, Florida. John was born on May 4, 1964 and grew up in Warren, New Jersey. After graduating from Watchung Hill High School in 1982, he attended Stockton State College where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Afterwards, he began working with his mother Sally in the family accounting firm, Barton Associates in Warren, New Jersey. He was married to Christine Barton on August 17, 1991 and in 1993, moved to Rotonda West, Florida. During his 35 years in accounting, John worked in many different industries as Chief Financial Officer and was very proud of his last position as Director of Accounting for United Financial Resources in Sarasota.
John had a passion for the water, a deep appreciation of nature, and a love for the animals who live on both the land and in the sea. He enjoyed traveling, boating, cooking, scuba diving, Nascar, and was a fan of the Miami Dolphins. He was a generous, caring man with a big heart who loved to show others a good time.
John is survived by his ex-wife Christine Barton, sister Laura Barton Thomas, step brother Patrick Griffin, step sister Tracy Huber, his three beloved Shetland Sheepdogs Frasier, Belle and Napa, and many new and longtime friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Sally Barton, step father Raymond Griffin, and brother Robert Jr.
John will be cremated, and his ashes cast in an Eternal Reefs reef ball. He will be laid to rest at a later date in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Sarasota, Florida. To learn more about John's final resting place, please visit www.eternalreefs.com.
John will be honored with Celebrations of Life on June 17th at The Waverly Restaurant (formally Gulf View Grill) located at 2095 N. Beach Road in Englewood Beach, Florida and on June 24th at the American Legion located at 12 Community Place in Warren, New Jersey.
