Please watch this video tribute celebrating the amazing life of John David Barton. Many decades ago, John requested that the song in the video, Ripple by the Grateful Dead, be played at his funeral.
OH NO... WHAT HAPPENED!!!? I was poking around on the internet and came across this... he was too young! Dear loved ones and friends... I am so deeply sorry for your loss. John and I were HS boyfriend and girlfriend for three years. It was a tough relationship... I don't know why he went out with me, he wasn't ready. He liked shooting hoops, going fishing (I even think I have a Middlesex County road map with him on the cover... it's the hair!), he was such a pool shark that you would just stand there while he ran the table, going to the Flemington Speedway and concerts. He loved The Doors and Rock and Roll, football, NASCAR, doobies, drinking, his close buddies and girls. We hung out in a little fort he built and ran electric too and had bonfires on the hill. His parents were divorced when he was young so he basically took care of himself. I never saw someone so smart without trying. He was a proud person. He was funny and the life of the party. He was very generous and just wanted everyone to have a good time which was usually at his house. He had a moped and drove it everywhere, even off the road because he thought he could drive with his eyes closed on Dock Watch Hollow Road. He had the coolest car... His mothers old blue Oldsmobile and he put chrome rims on it. Hot stuff! Even parked in the teachers lot! He enjoyed fishing on his uncle Walt's boat in Point Pleasant and taking rides in his cousins cigarette boat. He loved Florida and I knew he would eventually end up there. His mother was a hard worker, his mentor and rock and she adored him. I noticed on Facebook, which I don't really do, that he seemed in a good place, which is awesome but then there was no activity for a couple of months. Was he sick? Being sick sucks! This makes me sad..... Just a lot of prayers and love for everyone.  I hope you're ok John... Reunite with your dad, who I think you look just like, your brother Robert, Richard (I was there) and your mom. Heavy sigh... hugs all around! Thanks for listening. I'm at kbutler127@gmail.com. Be well, sincerely Kelly Smith Butler

John was always laughing and smiling in high school…I don’t think I ever saw him without a smile.  Rest In Peace John 🙏

John, I was so excited when we reconnected via Facebook and then started the phone conversations. I remember being so happy that you and Kevin got along so well. I was hoping we would make it to Florida to visit and the two of you meet in person finally. I'm so sorry that never happened.  R.I.P. my friend. We will see you again some day.
