December 8, 1954 - February 23, 2024
John William Albrecht left us far too soon on February 23, 2024. The impact he had on our community, church, and family will be felt for years to come. John was born on December 8th, 1954, in Milwaukee, WI to Delbert and Marilyn Albrecht and was the oldest and only son of three children.
John fought his battle against Parkinson’s and Dementia for many years. In 1975, he met his wife Holly square dancing at Calhoun Hall in New Berlin. They married on August 12, 1978. John and Holly went on to have three beautiful children, Monique (Brad), Allison, and Carolyn. He began his career by attending MATC and became a Diesel Mechanic for Inland Diesel and Leaseway. When Leaseway went out of business he became a mechanic for We energies and later a Distribution Fitter Gas Operations for them. He enjoyed many things including drumming and woodworking. He was truly devoted to serving God and others through his church as an usher, Serve Captain, volunteer, and went on many mission trips. John had a love of traveling with his wife, seeing new places, meeting new people, and making memories with his family wherever they would end up. He had a wonderful ability to make others smile and let them know he was always there to help no matter what. His wife and daughters, along with his grandchildren, loved spending time with him and will truly miss him. John chose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.
In the words of Forrest Gump (his favorite movie) – “You have to do the best with what God gave you” and John truly did just that.
John was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by wife Holly, his daughters, and spouses, five grandchildren, sisters Sue Marz, and Cindy Albrecht, Uncle Marv Spangenberg, and many nieces, relatives, and friends.
The family is hosting a Celebration of Life service on March 15, 2024, at RiverGlen Christian Church (W31 W30601 Sunset Drive, Waukesha, WI 53189). Gathering will be from 9:00 AM -10:00 AM. Service to follow. There will time to socialize and remember John with refreshments after the service. Private Internment at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
