John's obituary

John Patrick Abbott,74, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on March 9, 2024 with his family at his side. John was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Josephine (Cherrito) Abbott, and his infant daughter Andrea. John graduated from Northeast High School and shortly after he was drafted into the United States Army where he served his county in Vietnam. John was an avid reader and spent many hours with his Kindle in hand. He loved spending time with his two grandchildren, Bianca and Gianni, entertaining them with stories of his childhood and passing on family traditions. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Susan Santa Maria Abbott, his sons Bennie Abbott (Angela), Angelo Abbott (Stephanie), grandchildren Bianca Juliana and Gianni Xavier Abbott, seven siblings Joseph Abbott (Kathy), Vincent Abbott (Sharon), Bennie Abbate, Jr. (Ruth Ann), Mary Bertha Gehring (Bob), Bena Roseburrough (Tom), Anthony Abbott (Asha),Pete Abbott(Jill) and many, nieces and nephews. As the oldest son of eight and patriarch of the Abbott Family, John’s presence will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 6415 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO, 64119 at 2:00 pm followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 3:30 p.m. Entombment will take place at a later date.
