Mrs. Joel Dean Sutton Ward, age 86, of St. Augustine, Florida, died April 24, 2023 at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida in St. Augustine after an extended illness.

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, she was a daughter of Joe Cephus Sutton and Vela Warnock Sutton. She was a manger of the policy-issue department for Professional Insurance Corporation.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ward was predeceased by her husband, Seborn Ward; daughter, Bettye Jo Ward; and brother, Kenneth Sutton.

Mrs. Ward is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Buchanan (Phil) of St. Augustine and Donna Ward of Jacksonville; sister-in-law, Mary Anne Sutton; niece, Anne Sutton, both of Poquoson, VA; nephew, Brian Sutton (Sarah) of San Ramon, CA; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held April 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville. Cedar Bay Funeral Home of Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.
