Joel's obituary
Joel Leonard Robbins Passed away on Saturday Jan. 11th, 2025 at the age of 89.
Joel recently moved to Milford, CT to be closer to his Son Marc, and Daughter-in Law Mary. Joel is also survived by his Granddaughter Addison Robbins who lives in Los Angeles with her Fiancé Maxwell Gaulin.
Joel was born and raised in the Dorchester/Mattapan section of Boston. Joel's only sibling, sister Ellie Silverberg currently lives in the Orlando Florida area. He graduated with a B.S. in Business from Boston University and quickly got into Sales. Joel moved his family to Los Angeles in 1975 to continue his successful career in Life Insurance with John Hancock. Joel spent almost 30 years in LA working for several major Life Insurance Companies.
Joel was married to his late wife Barbara Robbins for 55 years. The two retired to Palm Springs, California in the early 2000's.. From that home base that loving couple spent time traveling the world and of course coming to Connecticut to be with Marc, Mary and Addie and all of the activities that Addie participated in, going all over the state for Softball and coming to muliple performances of every Play/Show that Addie was in...
Joel's Niece Terri and her husband Mike shared his great passion for Palm Springs. Nephew Robert was also very close to his uncle, visiting California quite often. Yes, Joel's extended family was always there for him from childhood times at Revere Beach, through all the family weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvah's and other gatherings.
Joel had a true zest for life, family and friends. He traveled the world with Barbara and friends. He was a die-hard Boston Sports Fan, and can rest easily with all the Red Sox and Patriots success over the last 20 or so seasons. Marc and Joel spend thousands of hours watching Sports on tv and going to games. It was an unbreakable bond between the two.. Joel had a great love of fine dining and drink, especially Martinis. In fact Joel's homemade Martinis were a "must have" at every party he ever hosted. The man also loved preparing a meal for friends especially pulling out his Sous Vide and getting a piece of meat to just the right temperature... Joel and Barbara made so many long lasting friendships, Dancing classmates became BFF's and Joel's love of Golf fostered many pals on the links...
Joel's dry wit will long be remembered by those who knew him. Most know he didn't want any fuss over his passing, but this brief obit should give everyone a good idea of the wonderful man and the life he lived.
