Joel's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Joel Koelig, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend. Joel was born on September 27, 1961, and breathed his last on May 26, 2023. His departure has left a void which is hard to fill, but the memories of his vibrant life give solace in this time of grief.

Joel was an exemplary family man, survived by his loving wife, Grace Koelig, and his children, Joel Koelig Jr., Mercedes Rico, and Eglys Koelig. His siblings, sister Moravia Koelig and brother Julio Koelig, share in the deep sorrow of losing a beloved family figure. His affable nature and nurturing spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Joel was a man of simple pleasures and had an infectious zest for life that touched everyone in his presence. He had a deep love for steak, rice, and black beans, complemented by a fine taste for rum. His preference for music swung towards the melodious strains of Whitney Houston’s “All the Man That I Need”. A fan of the supernatural and mysterious, Fepo Paranormal was his favorite TV show. He was always ready for a good laugh with the humorous film El Vampiro en LaHabana. Miami Heat was his sports team of choice, reflecting his love for the game.

Joel was an avid pool player, and he never missed a performance by KC & the Sunshine Band. His favorite pastime was listening to good music and watching TV, activities that he used to unwind after a day's work. An unconventional exercise enthusiast, Joel loved keeping fit on the bed. The beach and the open road in the RV were his preferred vacation spots, while locally he often frequented Hooters.

He was a man of compassionate heart, deeply invested in the welfare of children. His favorite colors, black, blue, and green, were a reflection of his personality - deep, calm, and vibrant.

Joel lived a full, pleasant life, touching countless hearts along the way. His spirit lives on in the beautiful memories he has left us with. The void he leaves behind is profound, but he will be remembered fondly and missed immensely.
