Joel's obituary
Our beloved son, Joel Anthony Robbins, entered into God’s Kingdom on July 17, 2025 after a 10 month battle with cancer. Joel was born to Keith and Vonda Robbins on June 1, 1974 in Country of Curacao. When Joel was younger, his favorite activities were playing football and basketball. He attended Canadian High School and graduated in 1992. He went on to attend college Midwestern State University and Texas Tech. In the summer on June 29, 1994 Joel was severely injury in a work truck accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. This would forever change his life. God has plans for Joel that he never knew and he would fought hard to get better throughout rehabilitation. God allowed him to go back to college and later graduated from West Texas State with a B.S. in Sociology in 1999. After graduating, he moved to Arlington, TX and looked to pursue a career as a behavioral therapist at the very rehabilitation center he went through. But God had another plan for him! In 2003, Joel met Shelia, a match truly made in heaven. Joel & Shelia would be married in October 5, 2004. Sheila had two children, Jack and Allison. Joel would then become the step father to Jake and Allison and would love them just as he was their bio-logical father. He loved his family and loved being a dad and husband. He was a volunteer and coach at Flint Academy and had the wonderful experience in coaching his daughter's basketball team. Joel, although faced with challenges with his handicap, never allowed it to slow him down. The most important thing in Joel's life was the day Joel accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Joel joins his family members R.P. Robbins (grandpa), Yolanda Curtis Kelly (grandma), J.W. Curtis (grandpa), Johnny Curtis (uncle) Lois Friddell (spouses mom), Amanda Friddell (spouse sister-in-law wife of Kristopher Friddell) all in Heaven. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."
