Joe's obituary
Joe Michael Sullivan, 84, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 27 2022, while surrounded by family at his home in Burlington, Wa.. Born on November, 26, 1937 to J. Franklin Sullivan and Dorothy Sullivan. Joe was a track star at Fullerton High School and Fullerton Junior College. As a teenager, his dad taught him to fly and it is often joked that he could fly a plane before he could drive a car.
He met his wife of 64 years in Sedro-Woolley, Wa., when he was stationed at Whidbey Island Naval base. They were married in 1958 after receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Sue Sullivan of Burlington, Wa., sister, Kerry Johnson of Nogal, NM., 4 children: Rory Sullivan of Concrete, Wa., Shelly Sullivan of Norco, Ca., Randy Sullivan of Norco, Ca., and Joseph B. Sullivan of Hesperia Ca., 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was always self employed; from custom home construction to car dealerships to restauranteering to property management, he was a true entrepreneur in every sense. He worked hard for his family and enjoyed flying his Aero-Commander, fishing in Alaska and Mexico, playing cards in Big Bear, traveling with friends, and listening to ol’ folk gospel music. Time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the highlight of his days.
Joe was a born again Christian. He’d been involved with Cross Style Global Ministries for over forty years. A life changing experience was his mission trip with Cross Style to Kenya, Africa. Joe spent the second half of his life praying for his family, giving back to charities, and worshiping the Lord.
