Joe's obituary
Joe was born in Manilla, Philippines to Ernest Poblete and Alicia Poblete. He is a brother to Jennifer Poblete Baptist. As children of military parents, Jennifer and Joe traveled the world; making Biloxi, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and finally Jacksonville their home. Throughout his childhood, Joe’s passions included baseball and martial arts. He graduated from Terry Parker High School, Florida State University, and the University of South Florida where he earned his Master’s degree.
Upon graduation, Joe began working for Honeywell as an engineer. Through a stint in Phoenix, Joe met the love of his life, Laurie. They were married in Jamaica and relocated to Clearwater.
A year and a half into their marriage, Laurie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
After 3 weeks of the initial diagnosis, she was hospitalized for over a month with limited ability to see and move. During this time, Joe stayed by her side every day while continuing to work until she got better.
He wanted to show her the world and make sure she had the opportunity to experience all of her dreams. Whatever it was, Joe found ways to make it happen. Through all their travels, regardless of any momentary hurdle, Joe never once complained. He was the best husband anyone could have asked for. Their love story was an inspiration to all who met them.
At Honeywell, Joe was an exemplary employee. He was always positive and his selfless attitude was contagious amongst his co-workers. There was never a bad day through Joe’s eyes. His endearing smile and infectious personality brought an unlimited amount of joy to everyone he met. Joe selflessly impacted the lives of many, as both a mentor and inspiration.
