A Life Lived in Full Color — Celebrating the Journey of Joe Frances Moore

On May 2, 1942, in the small but lively town of McDonough, Georgia, Lillian Floyd Darden and Willie “Buddy/Ded” Darden welcomed into the world a little girl with a big name and an even bigger personality—Joe Frances Moore. From that day forward, the world had no idea the joy, laughter, and love she would pour into it.

After 83 blessed years, on August 12, 2025, Frances peacefully traded her earthly address for her heavenly home, following a courageous battle with metastatic cancer. We can only imagine she arrived to a joyful welcome committee in heaven —including her parents, loving husband Arthur Moore “Moe”, siblings Margaret, Maevene, and Milton James “MJ”, and her beloved son Randy “Spote / Sport.”

Frances’ story was one of faith in action. In the 1990s, she made the most important decision of her life—giving her heart to Christ. She became a proud member of First Mount Selah Baptist Church near the Thomasville community, where her call to Evangelism was clear. In 2005, she earned her ministerial diploma from the Women’s Institute of Ministry in Atlanta, GA, under the guidance of Evangelist Betty Holland—an achievement she wore like a crown.

She married the love of her life, Arthur Moore, in 1977. For 40 years, they were true partners—whether serving in ministry, exploring new cities just for lunch, or launching their street outreach, “Bread of Life,” to feed bodies and souls alike. Their love was a testimony in itself, enduring even beyond Arthur’s passing.

Frances was the fourth of seven siblings and a proud Darden through and through. She leaves behind her sisters Wille Ester (Charles Jackson), Dorothy, and Linda (Willie Williams)—each of whom carries a piece of her joy and sass.

A mother through both birth and love, Frances raised her children Sharyl Ann, Melissa, Charles “Man” (Anita), Michelle (Raymond Price), and embraced her stepchildren Arthur III (Samatha), Cecilia (Hardy Usher), Avery (Shebrina), and Kerry (Zeanna) as her own. Her heart was big enough for every child who needed a mother’s touch.

Frances lived as an evangelist not just in title, but in how she moved through life—radiating faith, family, love, laughter, and joy. She could out-sing the best of them, out-shop the pros, and cook a meal that could heal your spirit. She loved to dance, travel, and most importantly, to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

She leaves a legacy of love through her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, ministry partners, church family, and the mighty Darden Clan—of which she was profoundly one of five matriarchs. Her bond with each member was unique, special, and unshakable.

Frances’ life was not measured in years, but in the countless lives she touched, the laughter she sparked, and the faith she inspired. The Darden Clan doesn’t just mourn her passing—they celebrate the masterpiece of a life she lived.

Because if you knew Joe Frances Moore, you know this: she never just entered a room—she lit it up. And though we will miss her fiercely, her light will keep on shining in each of us.
