Joe's obituary

Joseph B. Cordero, 91, of Lutz Florida, peacefully passed on June 15th, 2024.

Joe was born in Lares, Puerto Rico 1932, only son of Santiago Cordero and Delores De Barretto Cordero. He left Puerto Rico as a young boy to be raised in Harlem New York. As he grew he joined the national guard. It was then he would visit the villas of Plattekill NY, on the weekends with his buddies. It was there that he met his future bride Marie. Only later to realize he had met her years prior when he once went to Plattekill with his parents and stopped at a small hotdog stand which was owned by Marie, the same Marie he would eventually marry. They would be married and have a loving and enduring union of 67 years!

Joe's proudest accomplishments were raising his two beautiful daughters, Lesa and Diana and spoiling his wife, Marie.

"I'm so proud of Joe's business acumen", Marie remarked. "After a prosperous 42 year career at American Chicle, both in New York and Illinois, Joe was able to retire in his late 50's!"

Started out as a mail boy and retired as a shipping supervisor with the same manufacturing company.

"I have so many wonderful memories of time spent with my Dad that I cannot just recall one." recalls Diana. "I love him and miss him dearly."

My dad was a strong, intelligent man, that worked hard for many years to make a great life for me, my mom and sister. We always went on vacations which hold a special place in my heart, great memories! Hershey Pennsylvania was one of the places we visited frequently. Dad always did what he had to do to provide for us. Even having to move to the Midwest to maintain a job, when the place he worked at in Long Island, NY for 30 plus years had a horrific accident and he had to relocate.

It was because of this, I too started working at the same factory dad did. Warner Lambert, and met my husband Jack. Jack and I have been married for 37 years. So thank you dad for moving us. I will forever be grateful for the things my dad did for me, and will forever miss him. I will forever love my dad

Lesa

Joe is survived by his wife Marie, daughter Lesa Burgett (Jack) and daughter Diana Cordero.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in Joe's honor to be determined at a later time.
