Jody's obituary
Jody Schmidt, 43 of Stoughton, Wisconsin passed away June 12, 2023.
Jody was born the youngest of three children to Carol and David Schmidt in Madison, Wisconsin on June 25, 1979. Jody graduated from Stoughton High School with his daughter, Savana in his arms.
During his years at Stoughton High School, he met Korine Gilderhus. In 1998, they had their first child, Savana. 6 years later, they welcomed their second child, James into the world. He worked very hard to make sure they were taken care of, and felt loved every day.
Jody wore many titles, dad, brother, son, friend, Holy Schmidt the race car driver, and a coach for his daughter, Savana’s soccer team.
Jody grew up with racing in his blood, on a Friday or Saturday night the only place you could find it was at a race track. Jody raced bandits at Madison International Speedway, The Dells Raceway, Jefferson Speedway. He was also involved in Night of destruction and Demolition Derby’s for many years. Winter never stopped him from racing. During the cold weekends he would be racing four wheelers on lake Wisconsin. Jody loved being outside, he always wanted to be hiking, biking, swimming, spree riding, on the lake, or long drives. His favorite thing was restoring his 1987 firebird, and blasting Eminem music while driving it.
Jody was preceded in death by his father, David Schmidt. He is survived by his mother, Carol of Stoughton, brother, Jeremy Schmidt of McFarland, and sister Jaime Schmidt (Wayne Richter) of Oregon. His daughter, Savana Schmidt (Brandon Quam) of Stoughton, Son, James Schmidt of Stoughton and Nieces and Nephews.
