Jody's obituary
Long time Anchorage resident Jody Lynn McIntosh, 67, passed on September 7th, 2022. A celebration of life will be held October 16th at 2p at the Anchorage Suomi Finland Club.
Jody was born on January 8th, 1955 in Sioux City, Iowa. When Jody was 11 years old she was adopted by Gordon and Connie Kler and moved to Alaska. As a teen and young adult, Jody enjoyed playing softball and working in fishing and mining camps. Jody married Ted Hawley in 1973 and they share 3 children. When Jody married Eric McIntosh in 1987 she gained 4 stepchildren. Their family continued to grow when they welcomed a daughter and then a son into their lives. Later in life, through a DNA search, Jody was reunited with her half sister and multiple other family members. Jody was thrilled with the additions to her family.
Throughout her career, Jody was a camp cook, bartender, an award-winning radio personality, worked for a former Anchorage Mayor, and a school bus driver. Jody coached her children in softball and baseball. She often volunteered to run the snack shack at the local little league where her children played. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren's soccer, volleyball, and hockey games. Jody loved cooking and attending family gatherings where she was able to visit with her children and grandchildren. She was known for giving her grandchildren nicknames and hand making them gifts.
Jody is survived by her uncle Danny Weiner; sisters Lorrie Church and Roxanne Olsen; brother Daniel Kler; daughters Ginger Hawley, Kristin Hawley and Kensey Dye; sons Eric Hawley and Shaun McIntosh; stepdaughters Bronwen Turner, Tesann McIntosh and Sasha Forland; stepson Tod McIntosh; countless nieces and nephews; 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
