Jodie's obituary

JODIE LYN (PICKELL) REED

Jodie Lyn (Pickell) Reed, age 54, lost her battle with cancer on March 17, 2023.

Jodie was born on January 23, 1969, to Paul and Jan Pickell in Saginaw, MI. She grew up in Indian River, MI, where she graduated from Inland Lakes High School with the class of ’87.

Jodie obtained her cosmetology license shortly afterward, working for several years in the industry. She married her husband, Vonice in April, 2003. Vonice had two children from a previous relationship - Kayla and Travis- and Jodie loved them as her own. Jodie and Vonice most recently resided in Cape Coral, FL, where she enjoyed working outside, maintaining their property landscape management business..

Jodie was passionate about being a mother and especially loved being a baseball mom. She was known far and wide for being the loudest fan in the stands and for her famous cheer, “put a stamp on it and send it!” Some of her favorite things included nurturing her fruit and avocado trees, morel mushroom season, the annual Ohio fishing trip, and cheering her kids on in sports.

Jodie is survived by her husband, Vonice Reed; her children Shelby Mann, Riley Reed, Braylen Reed; stepchildren Kayla (daughters, Mariyah; Aviyana) Reed, Travis (wife Kaela and sons Zaidyn; Gunner) Reed; her parents Paul and Jan Pickell and her brother Jeff Pickell, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins!

The Family would like to invite you to Hope Lutheran Church at 6193 S Straits Hwy, Indian River, MI, on Saturday, May 6, 2023, for a memorial service and luncheon. Visitation begins at 10 am, with the service at noon and a luncheon afterward.

Following these events, a celebration of life will be given for Jodie at the Indian River Lions Club located at 4439 S Straits Hwy from 4 pm to 8 pm. We encourage those who knew her to come and celebrate with us.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reed family or Hope Lutheran Church of Indian River.
