I'm so sorry for the loss of Jode. I'll always think of him whenever I’m reminded of my short time at Arizona State. We showed up there as freshman not knowing one another, but it only took a couple of weeks to grow into great friends! I relish the opportunity to see Jode again. Love you brother!

We have such wonderful memories of our five years together. One of the fondest was a rugby game down in Oregon. Not knowing what to expect, I remember how bruised, battered, and beat up Jode and Cole were. What stands out is the shear joy, despite the pain, that Jode displayed after the game. Nadine, Andre, Cole and family. This is a loss that has no boundaries and will forever change life. I can only express the sorrow I feel for all of you and my deepest heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I am reminded of our early years in senior care when Nadine was my Administrator at Mt. St. Joseph. Often, Cole and Jode would visit. They were just little tikes then but they were fascinated with this building. It was old, smelled like damp newspaper and had all the lure of an adventure for two young boys. They could not resist exploring it with our Maintenance Director, Sharon Taylor. She could spin a story about every dark and creepy area. Cole and Jode would listen intently but no matter how scary it seemed, they would eagerly follow Sharon to the depths of the basement!! There, Sharon would tell them all about the giant machines and take them on a tour that would unsettle most adults! Back then, we still had pipes wrapped in asbestos. Those pipes seemed to go for miles and they hung low enough that we had to duck in some areas. Sharon wore her massive set of keys on her hip. Cole and Jode wanted to see each key open a door. The excitement and anticipation captured each of us as we would wait to see what was behind the locked door. Most of the time I expected something to jump out at us!! I was relieved that it was just another generator or massive machine. My fondness of the DeKlerk family continues today and my heart breaks for their loss. I hope comfort is found in the stories that are shared and celebrated. You are all in my heart and thoughts.

I will forever cherish the evening we spent last summer with Andre, Nadine, Jode and Taylor. Jode and Nadine dancing in the back deck and boy could they dance while me and Andre were singing. Then Jode out of nowhere ends up on the roof and jumps into the pool! It was such a great night. I wish I had a picture. ❤️❤️ But I did find a video of Jode and Taylor.
