How you can help
Hi, everyone. My name's Nathan Tran, and I'm one of Jocelyn's close friends and have been working with her family to settle her affairs.
Over Labor Day weekend, Jocelyn unexpectedly passed away in her apartment in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 30 years old and leaves behind her father (Joe M. Reaves), mother (Karma Webber), stepfather (James Johnson, Jr.), stepmother (Karin Norington-Reaves), and two younger brothers (Justin Reaves and Alex Norington-Reaves).
Originally from Chicago, Jocelyn was known to be a bright and inquisitive child. She was a natural fit for Saturday College at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she found her passion in science, and she often reminisced about her time at science (or as she later affectionately called it, “nerd”) camp. This passion led her to Connecticut College where she studied biochemistry and molecular biology.
Seeking a balance between science, healthcare, and business, Jocelyn pursued a Master in Public Health at Boston University School of Public Health. This launched her into her quick-ascending career as a strategic and trusted leader in healthcare, taking on roles like:
- Serving as the Vaccine Operations, Deputy Director for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 Vaccine Equity Initiative
- Serving as the Director, Business Operational Strategy at Arcadia
- Assuming increasing responsibility within Steward Health Care Network and serving as the National Senior Manager, MSO Operations
- Serving as the interim Project Management Director for the Clinical Operations team for Community Care Cooperative
- Developing websites, marketing and communications strategy, and community engagement for healthcare companies and small businesses such as Fractional Physician Executive Services, Ace Feet, How Women Invest, The Mixx, Elevate Coworking, and the Sheliah Lilly Foundation
As she navigated the healthcare world and a stint in law school, Jocelyn recognized that her mentors and the opportunities she had in the executive spaces she occupied had contributed to her ongoing success, and, in her mission to pass along these lessons she had learned, she founded Fireside Insights and CoachedIt to support and empower companies and individuals to tell their stories and follow their passions. She was committed to hosting conversations with women and people of color to amplify a diverse community of entrepreneurs and their message. Above all else, Jocelyn encouraged us to remember what’s important in life. She lifted us up with her laughter and positivity and taught us to manifest a life of abundance. We carry her teachings with us.
Donations will be used to support funeral expenses and a scholarship in Jocelyn’s name to continue her legacy of impact. Contribute
