My condolences to Joanne's family. I first met Joanne when I was volunteering in her class at IMSS and afterwards we would often discuss the students' progress together. She was a wonderful teacher.

I have recently started swimming again. Often as I start in my lane, my thoughts go to Joanne and her sweet spirit. We continue to miss her.

Joanne, I miss you. Your spirit was as close to that representing the fruit of the Spirit as anyone I've ever met. It was both humbling and inspiring. From taking in my family from Williams Lake during the evacuation, to the Christmas morning like anticipation of what lovely leftovers would be found in those margarine containers in the downstairs freezer when I house-sat. (I told Wayne and Maureen recently that you were the Queen of comfort foods!)
I always sensed you carried a heavy burden that comes with being such an empathetic creature. Though I will miss your presence - and wisdom - at our small group, I'm finding some consolation in knowing that you are now at rest. Be assured that we'll watch over your Cal - I hear plans are in the works for a cook off to both help train him in preparing meals, and filling the freezer! You know that I'm a tiny house kind of person, so I hope you don't mind my dropping by your well deserved heavenly mansion to dig through the freezer one day when we gather again. Till then, I'm going to implore of you something from this psuedo-Catholic. You are such a prayer warrior, and a great saint. So could you pray for me as I continue my journey on earth. This impetuous soul needs all the help it can get. Thanks.
All my love, your favourite house-sitter, Pat.

Dear Cal and family,
I was so shocked to hear of Joanne's passing. My heart goes out to you all, most especially because it was so sudden. Such a beautiful service to honour your wife and mum. Of course I remember her best from family camps at Christopher. She was a lovely lady. So many wonderful tributes to Joanne by everyone, especially your children (such an amazing job) and you, Cal.
Camp memories came flooding back to me from our youth and from family camps. I hadn't seen your dear sister Connie, who was my friend at camp, for decades.
Thinking of you all and sending much love and sympathy.

Cal, Beth, Sarah, Rachel and Danny; we just watched Joanne’s celebration and we’re so glad we were able to witness the love and admiration you all had for Joanne. I felt the same way, although for us it was only 6 years. A wonderful neighbour, a friendly ear, my fellow walker, snow or shine, and always her cheerful voice from her garden , “hello neighbour”. We will both miss her when we return, it almost doesn’t seem real right now. Love and prayers to all of you, Betty and Chris

As much as I know that Joanne has gone to be with God, the world has felt emptier knowing that she is no longer here among us.
Joanne was such a steady support to me when our young little family first moved to Saskatoon. She understood so many things about my life that nobody else did. Even after moving to Prince George our conversations were much less frequent but always felt familiar like just picking up where we left off.
As much as the many of us that that loved her will feel the loss, for you as her family it will be so much more. I pray for comfort and peace like a warm blanket in the days ahead.
Much love
Laurie Priestley
