Personal note from Many stories of Sissy to tell.....

Our family lived a number of places around Oakdale.
Some were out in the country.
We had tin toys; a spin top; a tin kitchen play set; wooden blocks with letter & numbers; a stick horse; a blown up clown with sand in the bottom- could hut it and it came back up etc...
We played outside. At home, was only place we could wear our knit pants. We had to wear dresses to school & church. We made mud pies; ran & played hide and seek; played with our cat Friskies, etc..
At one house, we had a swing set; Dad made us a wood see-saw...
Dad taught us about many things & the Bible. I was reading out loud, from the bible at age 5.
At that house, we had yard chickens.
Mom had an outdoor wringer washer with roller bars to squeeze out the water. She used garden hose- to fill washer tank.
JoAnn ate the rest of the bear meat- while we slept.
Jo was little, maybe 3.
Uncle Arvil had hunted and then brought our family some bear meat.
Mom pan fried it up and put on a plate.
We had all went to bed.
We all woke up, hearing some kind of noise- from the kitchen.
We all looked for Jo. We found her under the table with that plate in her hands- licking the plate clean.
Mom said,"JoAnn- what ard you doing?"
JoAnn said, "She ate the bear meat and it was good- she wanted more".
That plate had a lot of meat on it. We were shocked, Jo being so little could eat all that bear meat.
