JoAnn Bower of Whitmore Lake, MI passed away on September 1st, 2025 in the arms of her family. She was 79 years old. JoAnn was born in Romulus, Michigan to her parents Harold and Frances Sylvester on February 4th, 1946. She was the middle child to three children, Sharon (Jerry) Tomey and the late Harry (Barb) Sylvester.

JoAnn was incredibly devoted to her family, she raised 5 beautiful children. Gary Lynn (Cindy) Bower, Terri (Jeff) Kendrick, Sherry Bower, Michael (Theresa) Bower and Jennifer (Steve Mashinske) Bower. She had 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

JoAnn is well known for her kind, loving and giving heart. She would give someone her last dollar if it meant it would benefit another person, she was always willing to help anyone in need no matter the circumstance.

She spent many years before retirement working at a home for the mentally disabled, she had a passion for helping others who couldn’t help themselves. In her off time you would find her traveling all over to come to countless events for her grandchildren, homecomings, proms, talent shows, dance recitals, if she had the opportunity she would never miss a single thing that her family had going on.

JoAnn touched so many hearts, she will be deeply missed. Her family is at peace knowing that she is now home and in a better place with her beloved parents and little brother.
