Joane's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Joane Thompson, a brilliant mind, loving spouse, and devoted mother and sister. Joane, born in July of 1980, left us peacefully on January 2, 2024, leaving a void in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing her.
Beginning as high school sweethearts, Joane was the cherished wife of Bruce Thompson for 19 years. Their union, which began in 2004, was a beautiful testament of love, respect, and understanding. It was not without strife, sacrifice and mistakes, but they worked hard to make it work. Joane was a wonderful mother to her daughters, Sydney and Nadia Thompson. Besides her husband and daughters, Joane is survived by her father, Francois Carre Sr., her sister, Regina Carre, and her brothers, Francois Carre Jr and Stanley Plante (along with 8 nieces and nephews), She was predeceased by her dear mother, Rose Carre, and her loving grandmothers.
Joane dedicated her professional life to shaping future educators as a high school teacher at Crete Monee High School helping to jump start a program called Educators Rising. Her legacy in the field of education underscores her commitment to lifelong learning and to being a good person. She will be missed in the hallways and classrooms of that school.
Joane's vivacious personality and beautiful spirit touched everyone around her. A lover of Mojitos, Margaritas, and Pina Colada's, Joane also had a penchant for making her husband cook dishes she enjoyed like Ramen and Stir-fry noodles. She took pleasure in watching performances, musicals and theather, especially those involving her daughters. Joane loved vacationing in Mexico and Jamaica where she delighted in wearing flowing dresses the colors of the rainbow, ... Joane was beautiful in anything she wore.
Joane's life was a living example of one of the best lessons she shared: raise your children into people that you like being around. Joane nurtured her daughters into the wonderful young women who sit before you. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, strength, and education will continue to live on through her family and the countless lives she touched during her lifetime.
Joane's death was a reflection of her life. She was diligent in her fight and STRONG. She carried me many times this past year. If you believe me, I carried her less. She cried sometimes, worrying about what would become of her family if should she leave us. In those moments I carried her. Or her sister carried her. Or her brothers carried her. Or her Father carried her. She never missed an opportunity to tell us, showed us and I've never seen anyone fight an impossible fight harder than how she fought to live. Moment to moment. Tooth and nail. Rock and stone.
A memorial service in honor of Joane will be held at Pentecostal Church of Christ Cathedral on January 20, 2024, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to fund school expenses, a testament to Joane's belief in the power of education. Donations can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of….
In the words of her husband Bruce: "I've been with Joane since we were kids. I don't know how to live without her." Joane's absence will create a hole in everyone's heart who met her, but her spirit and the memories she left behind will forever be cherished.
