Joan's obituary

Joan Doreen Wolske (née Sinyard) spread her angel wings and went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2019.  She was born in Toronto on October 14, 1931. Joan was preceded in death by her father, Charles; mother, Olive; brothers, Clarence (Jim) and Bill; sister, Grace Daurio; husbands, Helmut Wolske and Maurice Best; and daughter, Pamela McNeil
Joan is survived by her sons, Norman (Salisbury, MD), Bill and Alan (Newmarket, ON) and Russell (New York, NY); her daughter, Jo-Anne MacLean (Morriston, ON); her stepdaughters, Debbie Randall (Walkerton, ON) & Pennie Forde (Barrie, ON) her sisters, Bernice Webster (Windsor, ON) & Audrey Barnett (Oakville, ON) and her brother, Clifford ( Bradford, ON)
Joan grew up in the Junction area of Toronto in a large family with 6 brothers and sisters and 13 cousins who grew up next door. She always had a positive outlook on life and saw only the best in the people she met. She made friends easily and was faithful to them over the decades.
Joan worked as a Bell Telephone operator after her schooling but devoted most of her life to raising her six children, fifteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Family was the most important thing in her life, followed closely by her favorite pet, Gigi, her toy poodle for over 20 years while the family was young.
Joan brought joy to hundreds of children with the beautiful sweaters that she knitted over the years and later extended her artistic skills to painting wooden crafts that her second husband, Moe, made in his shop. They enjoyed working together at local craft fairs on weekends, meeting people and sharing their skills. Fiercely independent, Joan lived in her own apartment until a month before her passing. She never wanted to be a burden on anyone else and enjoyed her quiet life and Tuesday night bingo games with her neighbors.
She will be remembered for being the best Mom, Wife, Daughter, Sister and Friend that anyone could ask for.
A brief graveside ceremony with family will be held at Riverside Cemetary at Royal York & Lawrence in Toronto on Sunday, May 4th at 11:00 followed by a Memorial luncheon for friends and family from 11:45am to 2:30 pm at Milestones Restaurant, 646 Dixon Rd, Etobicoke, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Wellington in Guelph, ON or the Canadian Cancer Society.
