Joan and I were gym mates. We sat together on the recumbent bikes and shared our lives, happy events and worries. We didn’t always agree on our politics but we both agreed on how to save the world. Joan and I drove together on Mondays to attend a “ Functional Fitness” class at Southampton Hospital, a half hour each way with never a dull moment. Sometimes Dickens would accompany us and I would get free cuddles. Joan ALWAYS loved her dogs. I will miss Joan and our friendship. Love, Joanne
I remember her as I was good friends with her brother Ricky, went to his house many times. Her family was always so nice. She was a couple of years a head of me. Barbara I am sorry for your loss. I remember you also.
Joan was also for many years a Volunteer House Assistant for the Hampton Theatre Company in Quogue. We will miss her. Julia Morgan Abrams, House Manager
Had Joan as a student and also taught with her for many years at the high school. A friend and relationship with her mother and father while in Bellport. I cannot believe that she has left us . My heart goes out to Barbara and her family.
I was stunned to hear of Joan's passing. We were dorm mates and apartment next door friends, graduating from Fredonia State in 1974. We had two Joans in our group. To distinguish one from the other, she was "nice Joan". I can still hear her great laugh. My condolences to her family and those who were lucky enough to know her.
Oh Scanny. How I loved her. She was both my teacher and a colleague. She was an amazing woman and I always admired her. Scanny welcomed all. She stuck to her guns, but never let her difference of opinions cloud her good soul and make anyone feel any less. Joan will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Went to hs with Joan. She lived right around the corner. I traveled with her to our freshman year at Fredonia State college. That trip was a great favor for me and my start after high school. So sorry for your loss.
