Joan's obituary

Ms. Joan "Auntie" Fields, 78, of Milwaukee, WI passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Joan grew up in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, and later moved with her family to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  She worked at the Milwaukee Public School system for years as a teaching assistant and then went on to work at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin until her retirement. Joan loved singing in the church choir, being with her family, working with children, and especially shopping for clothes. Joan will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, Herman Sr. and Marguerite Fields, brother, Herman Fields Jr., brother-in-law Lester Stewart, sister-in-law Deborah Fields, and nephew Anthony Stewart. 

She is survived by two sisters, Janice Fields of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Margaret Stewart of South Holland, Illinois, and two brothers, Willie (Vivian)Fields and Leroy Fields, both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She also leaves behind a beloved sister-in-law, Virginia Fields, and half brothers Stanley Fields and Steven Fields.

Cherished by a host of nieces and nephews: Leslie Stewart, Michelle (Michael) Peavy , Deniece (Lincoln)Russell, Olivia Fields, Martina Fields, Eric Dunbar, Paul (Kristian) Stewart, Darnell (Cynthia) Harris, Leroy Fields Jr., Christian (Lorrie) Fields and Darren Fields. She was also blessed with many great-nieces and great-nephews, and held a special place in her heart for her Goddaughter, Cynthia “Pixie” Nord.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at Zion Hill MBC, 1825 W Hampton Ave, at 11:00 am with a viewing starting at 10 am.  We request all of Joan’s loved ones join us in celebrating her beautiful life.
